Our Environmental Policy
At Classic Kitchens Direct we care about the environment and the effects our products can and will have on the planet.
We are always looking for ways to help reduce our carbon footprint, whether its the wood we use, recycled paper or our policy to only print documents if necessary.
Below you will find some information about what we are doing and we welcome any idea’s you may have to help even further.
The wood we use
Our wood is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international network designed to promote responsible management of the world’s forests. It has more than 50 million hectares of forest in 60 countries are certified according to FSC standards.
What does this mean?
Forestry certification is a voluntary code designed to improve management of the world’s forests.
The principles that underlay forest certification include:
- Long-term forest management
- Economic efficiency e.g. making the best use of forest resources
- Environmental protection e.g. habitat and wildlife protection
- Workers rights e.g. providing staff with training, a decent wage, protective
- equipment and the right to join a trade union
- Respect for people living in or near the forest
Packaging our products
Rather than packaging everything, our furniture is carefully wrapped in transport blankets, this means there is no additional cardboard, no plastic wrapping and very little to go to landfill.
The only thing we have to package is the small paint kits you get for touching up any nicks or scrapes you may get during the life of your kitchen.
In our showroom we always consider what we print and if it is necessary to try and minimize paper usage.
We will also never throw away something that has only been used on one side and try and use the other side for notes.
We also don’t send out brochures or quotes in the post and try to get customers to download PDF versions of both from us when they can.
